We’ve been described as the best-kept secret in Fourways; a hidden gem. We opened our doors in August 2021 and have slowly been growing our ‘family’, one cuppa coffee and gigantic pizza at a time.
We, Sheldon and Shona, are a husband and wife team, who found inspiration to open a restaurant following our passion and dreams. Sharing a space that people can meet at, or go out to, eat good food, drink great wine and create memories with people in their lives. Abi’z is a home away from home, a space to get away from the hustle and bustle, and place that we want you to get comfy in. A space to catch up
with friends or a space to get your graft on!
It’s been a real journey to this point. Neither of us had restaurant experience, but we had (still have) a very clear vision of what we want to achieve and the impact that we want to make on people’s lives. Everything being brought to the table with thought behind the dish, meaning to the pictures on the wall and intent from a very warm place in our hearts. We’d love to Abi’z to be a household name in our neighbourhood, and seeing our regular faces (and some new ones), walking through the doors daily!
Many people come for a visit and always want to know where we got the name Abi’z? Well, to start off its named after our daughter Abi. Pronounced A-bb-ys.
Abigail, or Abi, is our first child. Lover of smarties, cookies and our delicious milkshakes. We shared the news of our pregnancy with our parents whilst sitting in the restaurant who occupied the same space we later took over and named after our daughter. Talk about serendipity!
We value family, travel, authenticity, and community, which we believe comes through the experience we foster at Abi’z. There’s so much of ourselves woven into the detail of the restaurant that it makes the space very personal. Photos of our life and travels hang around the restaurant, offering a peek into who we are.
